We are in the very heel of Italy: Apulia Region, by the Ionian Sea of Salento, in one of its most beautiful parts, spotted by long stretches of sand and low cliffs. In particular we are in Torre Colimena, a small hamlet of the village of Manduria, which takes its name from the wonderful Tower built centuries ago for the sighting of Saracen invaders.
Our apartments are in the quietest and noiseless part of Torre Colimena, which is an area still out from the most crowded touristic routes, just 100 mt far from the sea and 200 mt far from the beach, a long stretch of golden sand surmounted by huge dunes covered by the typical Mediterranean flora.
The sea is one of the most wonderful in all the Mediterranean Sea and it’s suitable for under water fishing where you can see lots of rocks lived by octopusses, white breams, cuttlefishes, etc.
Only for the bravests, there’s a sea-shoal which arrives to 27 mt of depth: here it’s possible to fish groupers and all the fishes that live in underwater holes
For those who really love Nature, we inform you that our Apartments are only 150 mt far from an ancient salt mine of 1200: the “Salina dei Monaci” (Monks’ salt mine), protected Natural Reserve, where it’s nice going for a walk, jogging or just taking pictures of rare species of Mediterranean flora and fauna like Herons, Wild Ducks, Moorhens and Wigeons (www.salina.comunedimanduria.com).
Supermarkets, shops, restaurants and church are easy to reach by foot. The local people are very friendly and you’ll feel the real South Mediterranean atmosphere of sea villages.
